2017 AMSD Legislative Platform

AMSD Ad hoc Committee on Integration and Equity

The Ad hoc Committee on Integration and equity was formed to develop a collective education plan to address integration, access, equity and excellence in educational achievement for each and every student. Superintendents from across the metropolitan area have come together to engage in this critical work.

Equity and integration are important topics for Minnesota because the demographic composition of our state is rapidly changing. In the coming years, we will have an older, more diverse population across our state. E-12 education is the foundation for our upcoming workforce, and this coming reality makes it incumbent that our students are ready to support the growing needs of an aging, more broad-based population.

At the same time as the demographic profile of our state is changing, educational data tells us that we need to improve in all of the educational markers that serve as benchmarks of success in our current educational system. Simply, put we are taking collective action to meet the needs of all students.

Reimagine Minnesota

A commitment to create lasting equity and excellence in education for all students

Please join us for a community conversation as we gather input and embark on a plan to create equity, integration and excellence in education for all students.

During February and March, we will be convening community conversations with students, parents, business leaders, policy makers, community and education stakeholders. Each participant will be welcomed, honored and respected for who they are and the contributions they offer. The information gathered through the collective dialogue will inform the superintendent committee as they forge a path and build a collective education plan that ensures success for all students.
